The wide variety of surf breaks just minutes from our camp allows us to handpick the ideal location for your daily surf lessons. Even during a heavy swell, we can guide you to sheltered spots with smaller, gentler waves. Planning a visit in the low season? We’ve got you covered: our proximity to swell magnet surf spots guarantees that even with minimal swell, you’re guaranteed to find rideable waves.
Daily Surf Spot Selection for All Skill Levels
To make every surf session count, we carefully choose the day’s surf spot each morning, considering real-time swell, wind, tide, and crowds factors. Unlike many surf camps with a limited local reach, we are dedicated to finding the best possible waves, even if it means driving beyond the immediate vicinity. Our priority is to find waves for everyone, from easy breaks ideal for beginners to learn and progress safely, to beautiful “green waves” for intermediate surfers to work on their skills. This ensures you’ll progress quickly – even complete beginners often advance to riding green waves in just days! Thanks to the nearby location of many surf spots and our readiness to travel further for optimal conditions, you’ll surf the right waves every day.
Our local surf spots
Here’s an overview of the waves within easy reach of our surfcamp.
Banana Point: our home surf spot
A true local gem, Banana Point is conveniently located right in front of our surf camp in Morocco, making it our easily accessible home surf spot. This magnificent right-hand point break has something for everyone. On swells up to 2 meters, it is a fun, easy, and forgiving wave, ideal for intermediate surfers wanting to refine their technique. When the swell exceeds 2 meters, Banana Point awakens with added power, guaranteeing truly memorable surfing sessions for more advanced riders.
K12, a unique Lefthander in Taghazout
Situated right beside Zen Surf Morocco, K12, also known as “Le Douze” by local surfers, stands out as one of the only left-hand surf breaks in the Taghazout region. This beautiful spot features a convenient left-right peak with an inviting take-off zone. The left-hand wave is particularly easy and fun, offering a smooth ride after the initial drop, making it great for beginner and intermediate surfers. The right-hand wave is more powerful and offers great rides, but be mindful of the rocks towards the end of the wave. Enjoy the ultimate opportunity of surfing K12 just steps from our camp.
K11: a more powerful left-hand surf break
Located at the southern end of our beach, K11 is often referred to as the “big sister” of K12, offering a more substantial and powerful left-hand wave. This exciting break unfolds over a rocky slab and features a nice, open wall. K11 shines when the swell is moderate, ideally up to 1.80 meters, providing thrilling rides for intermediate to advanced surfers seeking a more challenging lefthander in the Taghazout region.
Imourane and Devil's Rock
Imourane beach is the closest beach break to Zen Surf Morocco. It’s an easy beach break, making it an ideal location for both beginner surfers taking their first steps and intermediate surfers looking for fun, less challenging waves. To the right of the main beach lies a point break known as Devil’s Rock that can hold some pleasant surprises and offer quality waves, but tends to be less consistent compared to the other more established point breaks in the Taghazout area.
Crocro: largest beach break in the taghazout bay
Discover Crocro Beach, a remarkably long beach offering numerous surf peaks ideal for both beginner surfers learning the basics and intermediate surfers looking to progress. Its popularity with surf schools speaks to its consistent and forgiving waves. Beyond the excellent surfing, Crocro Beach provides a superb setting to relax on the sand after a nice surf session and enjoy the unique sight of camels strolling by.
Panorama Beach: beginner-friendly waves close to Taghazout
Located conveniently close to Taghazout, Panorama Beach is another nice beach break particularly well-suited for beginner surfers when the swell is big and other spots are not surfable. Additionally, the rocky point at the Taghazout end of the beach can produce a world-class righthander on a big and powerful swell!
Tamri: Morocco's ultimate swell magnet
When other surf spots in the Taghazout region are flat, Tamri is THE destination. Its unique exposure makes it an exceptional swell magnet, consistently attracting waves. This large and magnificent beach, retaining its wild and untouched charm at the mouth of a river, offers a truly wild surfing experience. When the sandbanks are well-formed, Tamri can deliver incredibly pleasant surf sessions, making the 50-minute drive from our camp well worth it for guaranteed waves.
Taghazout's world-famous surf spots
Anchor Point
Morocco's iconic point break
- Surfing level: Experienced to expert
- Tide: low tide
- Season: October to March
Without a doubt Morocco’s most emblematic wave, Anchor Point lives up to its legendary reputation as a remarkably consistent and powerful right-hand point break. This world-class surf spot can handle swells of all sizes, thriving particularly on those from the northwest. While offering fun rides in smaller conditions, swells above 2 meters transform Anchor Point into an expert-only wave due to its power. Be prepared for a significant paddle back after those epic rights.
Boiler point
Another Taghazout regional classic
- Surfing level: Intermediate to expert
- Tide: Low to mid tide
- Season: September to April
Undeniably one of Taghazout’s most legendary surf breaks! Distinguished by the shipwreck chimney marking the spot, Boilers offers a powerful and playful right-hand wall famously featured in the “Sipping Jetstreams” surf movie. Boiler Point boasts stunning views over majestic cliffs and untamed nature, making it an incredibly beautiful place guaranteeing an unforgettable session. Access to Boilers is possible for those enjoying our Advanced Guiding pack.
Killer Point
Taghazout's ultimate ride
- Surfing level: Intermediate to expert
- Tide: low tide
- Season: September to April
Don’t let the name fool you – “Killer Point” refers to the whales, not the vibe! This beautiful cliffside point break provides a welcome escape from busier spots, delivering exceptionally long waves, often reaching up to 300 meters. If you crave extended rides, this is your haven. With the same wave quality as Anchor Point, it offers a fast takeoff, typically favored by experienced surfers, leading into a superb, workable wall perfect for big carving and rollers.
Imsouane Bay
Surf Morocco's longest wave
- Surfing level: All levels
- Tide: low tide
- Season: September to May
A true Moroccan classic, Imsouane is celebrated as perhaps the longest wave in Morocco, offering incredibly extended rides of 2 minutes or more! This remarkably gentle and consistent wave is a dream for longboarders, allowing for graceful glides, and it’s also surprisingly suitable for beginners looking for longer, less challenging rides. Imsouane itself is a pretty little fishing port nestled in a magnificent bay (explore our blog post for more on this exceptional location). Be prepared for a scenic walk around the bay to get back to the peak after an extra-long wave! We happily offer excursions to Imsouane for all levels at an additional cost.
