Frequently Asked Questions
All you need to know before your stay at our surf camp in Morocco
You’ve just booked a stay at Zen Surf and obviously have some questions. Here are the answers to most of them 😉
Is there anything special I shouldn't forget in my luggage?
There’s nothing special to bring to our surf camp, but don’t forget to bring light clothing, a swimsuit and beach towel, as well as a warm sweater in case it gets cold at night (especially in winter).
A valid passport will also come in handy.
How is the Agadir airport transfer and is it available anytime ?
Don’t worry, we can arrange transfers at any time of day or night.
When you arrive at the airport, a driver will be waiting for you outside the airport terminal with “Zen Surf Morocco” written on a piece of paper.
If you have trouble finding him, you can call Nico on (+33) 6 17 41 23 78 or Saïd the surf camp manager on (+212) 6 66 17 94 79.
I'm landing in Marrakech, how can I get to the camp easily ?
From Marrakech, it’s very easy (and safe) to take a bus to Agadir, with the CTM or Supratours companies.
Their terminals are a 20-minute cab ride from the airport, and there are buses every hour until late at night, costing €10, which you can book on the spot. All you have to do is send us the details of your bus (with arrival time and company name) by message or Whatsapp and we’ll send a driver to pick you up at the Agadir bus station.
Alternatively, we can arrange a private pick-up in Marrakech, but this is at an extra cost (150€/trip, up to 5 people).
Is there Wifi at the camp?
Of course, we have a high-speed fiber-optic Internet connection and powerful wifi routers for added convenience.
Are electrical outlets in Morocco the same as in Europe ?
Yes, they are the same as in continental Europe. You’ll only need an adapter if you’re coming from the UK.
Are sheets and towels provided ?
Of course, we are a guest house and provide all bed linen and towels.
Please note that we provide liquid hand soap. However, you’ll need to bring your own shower gel and shampoo, or you can easily buy them at local grocery stores in the village.
I'm a total beginner at surfing, are surf lessons suitable for my level ?
Don’t worry, we have lots of beginners, so you won’t be alone. We divide our surf lessons into level groups so you’ll be placed in a beginners’ group. Our surf coaches are very patient and will teach you to surf safely and with a smile.
Is it easy to get a SIM card with internet recharge in Morocco?
Very easy, you can get a free SIM card after clearing customs, near the baggage claim conveyor, and get a data top-up at an affordable price.
What's the best way to get dirhams for my local expenses?
The best way is tobring your foreign currency in cash and exchange it on the spot, as local ATMs charge exorbitant fees and your bank will also charge you fees.
There are exchange offices with a decent rate at Agadir airport: these are the ones located after the customs X-ray checks before exiting the terminal (do NOT go to the one next to baggage reclaim, it’s a scam). We also have exchange offices in our village.
What's a typical day at Zen Surf like?
Here’s what your days at Zen Surf will be like:
- 08:00 : morning yoga class begins (lasts about 1 hour)
- 08:30 : breakfast is served
- 10:00 : the group heads to the beach for surf lessons and guiding.
- 16:00 : surfers return from the beach
- 17:30 : afternoon yoga class
- 19:00 : dinner
- After dinner, guests gather in our beautiful courtyard to chat, play guitar or board games.
What about tap water? Is it safe to drink ?
Tap water is not drinkable in Morocco.
At the camp, we take the environment very seriously and have installed a reverse osmosis water purification system that produces 100% potable water from tap water.
This means we don’t have to buy 100 5-liter plastic bottles a week (!!), which means so much less plastic produced and dumped into our beloved oceans. Unlimited water is included with all meals and on the beach.
If you need a separate bottle of water for the night, we sell water in refillable glass bottles at a very good price (0.5€/liter) to finance the replacement of filters (which we have to change regularly) and to buy new bottles when they break.
Can you adapt to different diets ?
Yes we can! We have a vegetarian, vegan and gluten free menu available for your convenience.
If you have more specific needs you can simply let us know during the reservation process and we will write your special needs in our food agenda. Easy!
What additional costs can I expect at camp?
You’ve booked an all-inclusive surf package, which includes all meals and unlimited water during meals and on the beach. We offer non-alcoholic drinks and craft beverages on site at very reasonable prices (sodas, teas, infusions, espressos, fruit juices, banana/avocado milkshakes, ginger ale, etc.).
We also offer excursions and activities (especially on Saturdays, the surf coaches’ day off), which we can book for you on site at very affordable prices:
-
Excursion to Paradise Valley (€25/person)
-

On site, we also offer optional insurance to cover you if you get injured while surfing or break your surfboard. They’re optional: you don’t have to take them out if you don’t think you need them.
I'll need to work remotely during my stay. Does the surf camp have quiet places to work easily, and does the wifi connection allow video calls?
Our surf camp is very quiet during the day when everyone is surfing.
Our Moroccan lounge is a pleasant place to sit and work using our wifi connection. We’ve installed fiber optics, so you’ll have no trouble setting up video meetings with your colleagues.
